The game has several environments set in the ocean. This oil rig is meant to be used as wreckage in the background of some of the deeper sections of the game. It's a bit of a departure from the cartoony style the rest of the game has, which is supposed to hint at the deeper message of the real situation in the ocean. I had fun designing with the lowest possible poly count in mind.

The flat plane version (for event deeper background use) could be made to have as few as 2 tris. Or just 1.
